Runner Hanoi ran 250 consecutive sub2 half marathons
By September 8, Dao Ba Tuan had completed 250 consecutive half marathons. All under two hours. Every day, he gets up early and goes to the My Dinh water sports area, Nam Tu Liem district. The running track is multiple loops around this area. Regardless of rain, wind or hot Hanoi days, Tuan still finished 21km before 6:30. The male runner then returned home, took his daughter to school, and started working as an information technology engineer at a tourism business.
His running journey started on the first day of the new year 2023. Tuan then joined the 98Runners Club's 21-day HM challenge in a row. In the first few days, the original Bac Giang runner only felt sleepy and sluggish when he had to wake up early - something that had never happened before. He had to adjust his schedule, eat nutritious food, and try to sleep earlier to recharge his energy. After two weeks, the body gradually adapts and is no longer tired. "At this point, I see that 21 days of running is not enough, so I want to explore more of my limits. I told my brothers that I would try to run 365 days in a row instead of just 21 and be supported. So I started the beginning of my challenge," the 38-year-old runner shared.
One month after running, Mr. Tuan's body has almost entered a circadian rhythm, no longer painful or tired. He said completing a half marathon sub 2 every day has been a part of his lifestyle, cannot be quit and has never intended to stop. After each session, he recovered naturally with a healthy diet and regular sleep. Daily training results are regularly updated on the personal page.
This is how male runner commits to himself because according to him the most difficult thing is to keep focus, discipline, determination and will to endure to the end. Computer engineers make this activity interesting in many ways. One day he would invite his friends to run, another day he would race with the members of My Dinh Runners. Given the opportunity, Mr. Tuan will participate in races in or near the capital to change the wind. "The running route or the whole rhythm of life for the past 8 months repeats like a machine. I get up early in the morning to jog and work, in the evening come home for my family. Without encouragement and discipline from friends, it would be difficult for me to follow through. same," he said.
According to the plan, at the end of October, when he has completed about 300 runs, Mr. Tuan and the President of My Dinh Runners Club, Luu Danh Quang, will call for fundraising to support highland schools. During the times he had the opportunity to go to the Northwest, Mr. Tuan and other MDR members were moved when witnessing the difficult journey to school for children in the highlands. Most schools are simple and do not have adequate equipment. Others are degraded, leaky, and muddy, so they are much more disadvantaged than their friends in the delta.
"I am fortunate to have many advantages to pursue my dreams and also want to contribute a little to help them go more smoothly on their path. I hope that running every day can spread positive energy to many people to have a better life. can help as many schools as possible," shared the runner born in 1985.
Dao Ba Tuan came to jogging quite late, when he was 37 years old. Before that, he played soccer for many years to improve his health. In July 2021, he suffered a ligament injury and was out of action for 6 months. Jogging is a way to help Mr. Tuan relieve his "addiction" to exercise. Gradually, he found the sport more attractive, easy to play and did not require as many collisions and injuries as when playing soccer. Sticking with the sport for more than a year, the MDR member has become a familiar face at many running events in the Northern region.
In July 2022, Dao Ba Tuan participated for the first time in MetaSports Marathon Amazing Ha Long. That was also the first time he tried to conquer 42km at a major tournament. He achieved a record of 3 hours and 30 minutes and was one of the first 50 runners to finish. The tournament impressed with the exciting atmosphere of 11,000 athletes and the race track through locations overlooking the whole Ha Long Bay. This year, the Bac Giang-born runner continues to attend VM Ha Long with the goal of completing 42km in 3 hours and 10 minutes. "Work and family don't allow me to go too far, so tournaments like VM Ha Long are an opportunity to exchange, change the wind and learn from runners across the country," he shared.
Further, Dao Ba Tuan aims for the milestone of running a full sub3 marathon and competing for rankings in tournaments in 2024. However, in the immediate future, he is still highly focused on completing the goal of 365 half marathons with the expectation Raised a large amount of money for the future of children in highland areas.
