Runners reach the Top 100 MetaSports Marathon for the first time
He said that at the MetaSports Marathon Ho Chi Minh City Midnight 2022, many athletes had strong movements but were unlucky so he got this result. "I was surprised by the position in the top 100, because in 2022, I only joined the VM system as a pacer. This year, I just returned as a runner from the night race in Ho Chi Minh City", runner from Gia Lai speak.
Le Thai Hoa participated in MetaSports Marathon from the first tournament, 2019 in Quy Nhon. At that time, Hoa was still an instinctive runner, not knowing anything about running techniques. After a serious injury, he realized that he needed a rigorous and serious lesson plan. From there, the male runner began to learn the concepts related to marathons and train according to the plan.
"The more I practice, the more interesting I find this subject. This is not just a physical race, this is a willpower race," said Thai Hoa. For him, running is not about winning or losing with anyone, the biggest victory is winning over yourself. "Practicing to make the latter better than the former, breaking one's own record is a joy," he said.
"This year I will participate in all the events of the MetaSports Marathon, regardless of whether I am in the Top 100 or not. Conquering milestones is a joy for me," said Le Thai Hoa.
"I calculated my performance, predicting to reach the top 100 in the VM Quy Nhon 2023. However, the results at the night run in Ho Chi Minh City were good, so the top 100 came earlier than expected," Yen shared.
Yen said that this result was achieved thanks to her own discipline. She often practices according to the lesson plan. One month before each tournament, Yen maintains runs from 30 to 35 km long to let the body adapt to speed and intensity.
In addition to the element of personal discipline, teammates are an inspiration, a source of encouragement to help Yen become more confident in her goals. The Turtle Runner Club, the 365 running group, is her spiritual support and supports her professional progress. In 2023, she registered for all tournaments in the VnExprses Marathon system, with the goal of maintaining her position on the Top 100 rankings and standing on the podium as many prizes as possible.
However, unfortunately for Viet, before the night run in Ho Chi Minh City, this runner was injured, and on the day of the race, his legs still hurt. "At that time, I thought I might give up the sub3:05 goal to ensure safety until the finish." On the run, there are times when Quang Binh runner intends to give up because of the pain. "Luckily at the last 3 km, watching the clock saw that there was still hope with the sub3:05 milestone if the average speed was maintained at 4:10. So I put all my effort to the finish line," Tan Viet recalls.
This result helped him get 759 points, ranked 30th on the top 100 ranking. "Being in the top 100 of the VM system is as exciting as competing on the podium. This year I aim to be in the top 100. all the solutions of the VM system," he said.
The Top 100 is a ranking of 100 outstanding runners, published before each event of the MetaSports Marathon. This is the "specialty" that many runners have been waiting for. The list partly shows the ability, talent and effort of the runners.
Scores are used as a basis for evaluation based on two criteria: chiptime performance and ranking points for competition performance at tournaments in the last 12 months. In addition, the results at the nearest tournament must be within the specified range, 3 hours 5 minutes for men, 4 hours for women; HM is 1 hour 25 minutes for men, 1 hour 45 minutes for women.
