Saigon Basketball Championship: Exciting Pro-Am Basketball Tournament arrives in the South

Professional competition experience and a total prize pool of up to 100 million dong will be the advantage of Saigon Basketball Championship, bringing a new movement basketball playground to the southern region.

At the end of 2022, the Hanoi Basketball Championship (HBC) under the Vietnam ProAm Basketball Championship system has left a strong mark with the intersection of amateur and professional basketball.

After the success of HBC, the organizers decided to "Go South" and bring this special competition model into Ho Chi Minh City. Since then, officially born Saigon Basketball Championship (SBC), a completely new tournament with an interesting format for the southern region.

Keeping the number of teams low to ensure competitiveness, and at the same time not "going too fast" in quantity at the expense of quality, the first season of Saigon Basketball Championship brought by VNPay will have 8 teams.

The participating teams include representatives of a number of academies, training groups in Ho Chi Minh City such as In N' Out Club, Next Level, T-Hub, 4AM or U23 E-Balls. Besides, there is the Limitless Hoops Club with the participation of some VBA players. The other two names are Poseidon Ninh Thuan Club and Bao Loc United Club.

Eight teams are divided into two groups, playing a round-robin round to determine the top and second teams in each group to advance to the knockouts. The total prize pool of the first season of Saigon Basketball Championship is up to 100 million VND.

For the movement basketball courts, it is difficult to exchange, confront and learn from real battles with professional players. SBC is the tournament that brings this experience to amateur athletes and movements in Ho Chi Minh City.

It is known that some special names will appear at SBC including two national players who have won SEA Games medals, Dinh Thanh Tam and Justin Young. Besides, there are many players who have been playing at the Vietnam Professional Basketball Tournament - VBA.

Another interesting point is that the athletes and coaches participating in the tournament will experience the atmosphere of a professional basketball tournament including the yard, facilities, entertainment programs and many other side activities.

The whole match will take place at Ho Xuan Huong Stadium, the home ground of Ho Chi Minh City Wings Club at VBA. At the same time, the tournament will be broadcast live on VTVCab's platforms.

As planned, Saigon Basketball Championship 2023 will take place from March 5 to the end of March 12.
