Saigon FC players refused to sign contract liquidation papers

HCM City Saigon FC players refused to sign the contract liquidation paper because they had not been paid bonuses and bribes by the club's leaders, after the end of the V-League 2022.

The club was in crisis, facing the risk of dissolution, but Saigon FC players still played and beat Binh Duong 2-1 in the final match of V-League 2022 on November 19. However, they still had to receive relegation tickets because in the match at the same time Ha Tinh defeated Thanh Hoa with the same score.

Entering the changing room after the match, Saigon FC players were given a contract liquidation sheet and asked to sign. However, many players refused. They said they would not leave the team until they were paid in full. Saigon owes the players more than 3 billion VND in bonuses and 50% of the kickback fee - estimated at tens of billions of VND. Club leaders promised to pay before the final match of the V-League 2022, but did not do it. Two days before the Binh Duong match, the club's representative met and promised to pay it off by December 10, and announced that he wanted to liquidate the contract with the whole team.

Coach Phung Thanh Phuong confided: "I am very sad. In a difficult situation, we still fight, but we have to receive this result. Maybe the name Saigon FC will no longer exist."

Mr. Phuong said that he and the players have repeatedly proposed to the club's leaders to find a solution to the problem, but have not received an official response.

Saigon FC players were sent home to rest after the V-League closed the curtain. They were worried that they might lose their income like the Quang Ninh players in 2021. That season, Quang Ninh leaders also promised to repay the debt but did not. When the team is dissolved, the players are required to sign a contract liquidation with a no-debt clause, so they can join other teams.
