Saudi Arabia 38-year-old striker Cristiano Ronaldo was selected as the best player of the 18th round of the Saudi League, with a hat-trick for Al Nassr.

Ronaldo's performance against Damac club was scored 9.2 points, the highest in round 18. In the typical team of the round announced on the evening of February 27, no other player was scored higher than 8.0 points. This score is automatically scored by Opta statistics, and the Saudi award is chosen as the criteria for evaluating the best player.

This is the second time Ronaldo has been selected as the tournament's player of the round, after he did the same in the round of 16 with four goals against Al Wehda. At that time, the 38-year-old superstar received 9.5 points.

In another post on Twitter, the official Saudi League account likened Ronaldo to "GOAT" (Best Player of All Time), through statistics: "Every 45 minutes, Ronaldo marks a goal in the Saudi League. . Only available in GOAT".

Ronaldo has scored or assisted in Al Nassr's last 10 goals, helping the team maintain the top of the table. The Portuguese captain is also only five goals away from the leader of the race, top scorer Anderson Talisca, when the tournament has 12 rounds left.

Ronaldo was not nominated for FIFA's The Best Men's Player of the Year award. He was also absent from the typical squad, and did not vote even to captain Portugal. Striker Al Nassr was not present at The Best award ceremony in Paris on the evening of February 27, when Lionel Messi won the award for the second time.

FIFA also attracted attention when showing the image of Ronaldo sitting on the bench with a wistful face. The last time he won The Best was in 2017, while 2018 and 2020 ranked second only.

Ronaldo will have the opportunity to improve his scoring record, when Al Nassr meets the bottom team Al Batin in the next match Friday night 3/3. The 38-year-old striker still holds the all-time scoring record, with 827 goals in 1,151 professional matches. Messi is second with 798 goals in 1,012 games.
