Schedule of Asian Women's Volleyball Tournament 2023: Vietnam before the opportunity to reach the world
The Asian Volleyball Championship, which takes place every two years, is considered one of the highest professional quality tournaments in the region. This year, the tournament will mark the return of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team after 6 years.
Thailand will be the host country of the 2023 Asian Women's Volleyball Championship. The tournament will kick off from September 3, with 14 participating teams divided into 4 groups, of which Vietnam is in Group C with South Korea. China, Uzebekistan and Chinese Taipei.
According to the new rules of FIVB, the World Volleyball Championship (FIVB Championship) from 2025 will award places to the teams in the Top 3 continental championships (15 teams) and 15 places based on the rankings. The group stage of the 2023 Asian Women's Volleyball Championship will take place in a round-robin format. Teams that win 3-0, 3-1 will get 3 points, win 3-2 get 2 points, lose 2-23 get 1 point.
The top 2 teams of Group A and C will advance to Group E, the top 2 teams of Group B and D will advance to Group F. The top 2 teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals, and the bottom 2 teams will compete for place. 5-8.
The 2 bottom teams of Groups A and C and the bottom 2 teams of Groups B and D will be placed in Group G and H respectively. The 2 best teams in each group will compete for 9-12th place, and the bottom 2 teams will compete for the ranking. 13-14.
The top 3 teams with the highest achievements in the 2023 Asian Women's Volleyball Championship will win the right to participate in the FIVB Championship 2025.
