SLNA coach beat his students on the field at the 2023 National U15 tournament

65 minutes, Tran Dong Thuc raised the score to 3-2 for SLNA. While his teammates celebrated together at the end of the field, defender Ngo Anh Duc ran to the Viettel technical area and expressed his celebration.

Thinking that the students provoked the opponent, from the SLNA technical area, coach Ngo Quang Truong ran over and used an empty water bottle to hit Anh Duc on the head. The face of the 51-year-old coach is full of anger.

The SLNA players and Viettel's coach Nguyen Thang Long had to intervene and separate coach Ngo Quang Truong away from Anh Duc.

When he was brought back by an assistant, Mr. Truong took the initiative to shake hands and apologize to Coach Thang Long as well as Team Leader Nguyen Hai Bien of Viettel. The referee did not issue a penalty on the situation.

The match then proceeded as normal. SLNA scored two more goals to win the match 5-2. Before that, they took the lead twice but let Viettel equalize 2-2.

Winning in the semi-finals helped SLNA meet PVF in the final on the afternoon of August 23 at Ba Ria Stadium. SLNA is the defending champion of the National U15 Championship. Last year, they beat PVF itself 4-2 in the final.

Coach Ngo Quang Truong was born in 1972, is a famous former midfielder of Nghe An football and the Vietnamese team from 1993 to 2003. After that, he stayed at the club to train youth. He had two periods as the head coach of the SLNA first team, 2014-2016 and 2020-2021, in between being technical director of Hai Phong Club in 2018 and 2019.
