SLNA was sentenced to lose three matches in the national U21 tournament

The final round of the National U21 Championship is taking place in Nghe An and Ha Tinh. The home team U21 SLNA finished the group stage with 4 points after three matches and are third in the group. They still have the opportunity to continue because according to the rules of this year's tournament, in addition to the top two teams, the two third teams with good results can also enter the quarterfinals.

However, this afternoon on December 22, the Disciplinary Committee of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) issued a document to fine the U21 team SLNA 4,500,000 VND and lost three group stage matches with Da Nang, Thanh Hoa and HAGL all with score 0-3.

The reason for the penalty stated by VFF was that the U21 SLNA team used Phan Ba ​​Quyen - a player who played for three different teams in a year. According to VFF regulations, in a year, a player can register for three teams, but can only play for two different teams. In 2022, Ba Quyen played for Vinh Phuc Club in the Second Division and Binh Phuoc in the First Division, before returning to SLNA U21.

The organizing committee of the national U21 tournament, after discovering the incident, reminded SLNA not to continue to let Ba Quyen compete. But the leadership of this team thought that the U21 tournament was not part of the VFF's competition system, so they ignored it and still let this player play.

"The national U21 tournament, even though it is outside the professional competition system, is still in the competition system of the VFF. Violations of the rules will be severely punished", a member of the Organizing Committee emphasized.
