Sterling has not returned to the World Cup after the theft
On December 5, an inside source told the Sun newspaper that Raheem said "there is no way to go, unless the family is absolutely safe".
Sterling is also planning to increase the security of the home once the police investigation is over. He would install 24/7 security with an array of infrared cameras, hire a security company to patrol day and night, and move all valuables to a safe deposit.
Since the night of December 4, a security guard provided by Chelsea Club has been involved in guarding the outside of the house.
On the evening of December 3, thieves raided Sterling's mansion in Oxshott, Surrey (London), less than 24 hours before the England - Senegal match in the 1/8 round of the 2022 World Cup. When the incident happened, his wife Paige Milian and the England international's three children are in the house. Thieves stole watches and jewelry worth about $370,000.
After hearing the news, Sterling immediately flew from Qatar back to England, missing the home team's 3-0 victory.
Sterling's family also received the attention of the English Football Association, coach Gareth Southgate and the players. Centre-back Harry Maguire said after the win over Senegal: "It's disappointing to know that when we were here playing for our country and giving everything, there were people back home targeting us. The game could have been different. and we might need Raheem."
On December 10, England will play the quarter-finals against France. It is not clear whether Sterling will return to continue participating in the tournament. In the group stage, the 27-year-old winger started two matches and scored one goal.
Sterling joined Chelsea in the summer of 2022 from Man City. In September 2021, another Chelsea player, Reece James also became the victim of a burglary. The suspect took away the Champions League, European Super Cup and Euro 2021 runners-up.
According to the Sun, Sterling is inherently very security-conscious and that is part of the reason he chose the mansion in Oxshott. This home is on a separate plot of land and has regular security patrols. The police have not yet arrested the suspect.
