Qatar Midfielder Rodrigo De Paul thinks captain Lionel Messi is capable of driving Argentina to the 2022 World Cup title, despite missing the opportunity to score in the Poland match.

"We want to be with Messi, who steers this boat. We believe having him will help the team reach the top of the World Cup," De Paul said in an interview after Argentina's 2-0 win over Poland. November 30 evening.

Atletico's star thinks Messi played well, despite missing the penalty at the end of the first half. "Remember Messi's goal against Mexico," De Paul praised the senior. "We had the same beliefs going into the second half against Poland. We used the familiar style of play, kept the game and scored."

After Messi missed the penalty in the 39th minute, Argentina opened the scoring in the first minute of the second half, thanks to the foot of Alexis MacAllister. They sealed the victory 20 minutes later, with the goal of Julian Alvarez – who stood side by side with Messi and Angel Di Maria in attack. The South American representative can win more heavily if Lautaro Martinez saves the opportunity at the end of the game.

MacAllister said Argentina is not desperate to find a goal because it believes in the level of individuals in the team. He said: "We scored in all three of the group stage games and had better performances. This match was great, we accomplished our goal of winning and keeping the top of the table."

Julian Alvarez also believes Argentina has regained its level after the shock of losing to Saudi Arabia. The striker on the Man City payroll believes Argentina can go far if it maintains its form. He said: "The way we finished the job in the second half was very impressive. The whole team is trying their best to get the best result this year."
