Coach Erik ten Hag thinks he can help striker Marcus Rashford play better for Man Utd.

"Rashford is an excellent striker," Ten Hag said on the evening of February 12. "He can score with his left foot, right foot and head. He's definitely one of the best strikers in Europe right now. I thought from the day I arrived at Man Utd that I could help him progress. more sets".

Rashford has scored in 12 of the last 15 games, including an 80th-minute header against Leeds at Elland Road on February 12. He has scored 21 goals in 34 games in all competitions this season, just one goal away from his best of the 2019-2020 season.

Ten Hag also recalled an interview earlier in the season, when a reporter asked him if any Man Utd player would hit the 20-goal mark this season. "I said right away that Rashford can do it," added the Dutchman. "When I first arrived at Man Utd, I was very excited to work with him. Rashford has great potential."

In 2023, Rashford scored 10 goals, the best achievement in European professional football. And if only in the top five tournaments, Rashford has also scored 13 goals in all competitions since the 2022 World Cup, while the second on this list Wissam Ben Yedder has only nine goals.

Goals from Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho helped Man Utd beat Leeds late, to increase the gap with fifth place Tottenham to seven points. Behind Garnacho's table, Ten Hag also gave two thumbs up and pointed at the 18-year-old midfielder to congratulate. "At Garnacho's age, it's normal to squander opportunities, and he will learn his lesson," the 53-year-old added. "The game was intense and we played a bit hasty at times, but the substitutes came on more calmly and controlled the game better."

Man Utd are the only team in Europe still playing in four competitions. In the next match, they are guests at Camp Nou in the first knockout round of the Europa League against Barca on the evening of Thursday 16/2.
