The Australian midfielder is more motivated before the Asian U23 semi-final
* Australia-Saudi Arabia: Today June 15 at 8pm, on Metasports.
Australia won tickets to the 2022 World Cup on June 13 by beating Peru 5-4 on penalties after a 0-0 draw in the 120-minute Intercontinental play-off. This is Australia's fifth consecutive World Cup and the sixth in history.
Najjarine hopes the Australian U23 will follow the successes of its predecessors by winning the Asian U23 Championship in Uzbekistan. Before the semi-final against Saudi Arabia, he said on the AFC homepage: "The team has achieved good results. We watched his game against Peru and were very happy. We also played very well. Get into the semi-finals and want to end the game with a championship."
Head coach Trevor Morgan shared: "It's great for the team to win the World Cup tickets. This is the motivation for us to work harder against Saudi Arabia."
Australia belongs to the group that has played in the AFC U23 Championship since its inception in 2013. But their best result was only third in Thailand in 2020.
This year, Australia performed scientifically with an unbeaten record, conceding only one goal before the semi-final. In the group stage, Morgan teachers and students defeated Kuwait 2-0, Iraq 1-1 and Jordan 1-0 respectively. In the quarter-final against Turkmenistan, they dominated with 72 percent possession and won 1-0 with Ozarov's counter-attack.
Coach Morgan is confident Australia will be able to beat Saudi Arabia-a team that also reached the semi-finals unbeaten, scoring nine goals without conceding. He told Championat.Asia: "I planned this game carefully. Australia just conceded a goal, so it's hard to say that we or Saudi Arabia defended better."
According to the military leader, one way to beat Saudi Arabia is to score first and not let opponents play the way they want.
