Coach Kevin Lee, who leads the Korean golf team in the 2020-2022 period, is expected to contribute to helping Vietnam golf get its first SEA Games medal.

Mr. Lee Kyung Jae (Kevin Lee) was a national player in 1999 before turning professional on the KPGA Tour. He was the coach of the Korean national reserve team from 2006-2010, before becoming the head coach of the Korean national team from 2020-2022. He was also a professor of golf at Gyeonggi University, and is one of the richest professionals in the land of Kimchi.

Mr. Lee came to Vietnam at the invitation of cooperation of LSG Diamond Class Golf - the first center to bring a Korean standard 3D golf model in Hanoi. This unit provides a professional golf training system, based on modern playing conditions and a team of top coaches from Korea.

In Vietnam for at least three years under a contract with LSG Diamond Class Golf, Coach Lee wants to raise the bar for Vietnamese golf, based on his seasoned coaching experience. "I am very excited to come to Vietnam to work and hope to contribute a little bit to the golf industry in Vietnam," he shared. "I know that Vietnam is developing in golf with many high-class venues for competition and practice, as well as many remarkable young talents. I would be very happy to help Vietnam golf continue to develop and have a position in the world. world golf map".

Last March, during the selection of golf force for the Vietnamese team to compete at the 32nd SEA Games, Coach Lee was present at Vinpearl Golf Hai Phong to observe, evaluate and advise. He also imparted his experience with Vietnamese athletes towards the 32nd SEA Games with the goal of winning the historic medal.

The 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia will take place from May 5-17, in which golf starts from May 8 and ends May 13. According to the regulations of the organizers, the standard force in each team consists of four men and three women. The Vietnamese team will attend the 32nd SEA Games with four male golfers including Nguyen Anh Minh, Doan Uy, Nguyen Dang Minh, Le Khanh Hung and three female golfers including Le Chuc An, Than Bao Nghi and Doan Xuan Khue Minh. Among these, Le Khanh Hung and Doan Xuan Khue Minh are the golfers selected by the coaching staff, while the remaining names passed the selection round last month.

"The young golfers all have skills and qualifications, but have not been fully exploited and shown their full potential," commented Kevin Lee about the Vietnamese players. The Korean strategist also respects the choice of athletes from the coach council of the Vietnam Golf Association, and thinks that the coaching staff and golfers will be easy to work with because they have known each other for a long time. Among the players attending the SEA Games, Mr. Lee is working with Chuc An, helping golfers improve many skills before the regional arena.

After the initial contributions, coach Kevin Lee was invited by the Vietnam Golf Association to be a senior advisor for the team. "I am always ready to contribute when the Vietnamese team needs it." With the enthusiasm and expertise of the former Korean coach, Vietnamese golf promises to make a breakthrough next month in Cambodia.

Vietnam has never won a gold medal in golf during its SEA Games participation. At the 31st SEA Games taking place at home, Vietnam included golfers Nguyen Anh Minh, Le Khanh Hung, Nguyen Dang Minh, Nguyen Quang Tri, Doan Xuan Khue Minh, Le Thi Thanh Thuy, and Le Chuc An. Among these, golfer born in 2007 Nguyen Anh Minh achieved the best, with a score of -4 and ranked sixth, while Khanh Hung ranked T10 with an even par score. At last year's SEA Games, Vietnam fulfilled its initial target in golf - "having a representative in the top 10 individuals".
