From the birdie opportunity, the 59-year-old American golfer Paul Goydos again scored a triple bogey on the 17th hole and then missed the opportunity to hold the Alley Challenge cup of the senior tournament system managed by the PGA Tour.

On August 27, Goydos played the final round of the Alley Challenge at Warwick Hills par72 in Michigan. After 16 holes, Goydos was at -15 and a one-stroke advantage.

To the par3 17th hole, he played 5.5 meters from the goal and then put it in the hope of birdie. However, the shot over the hole was approximately one meter. But from there, the second slip to keep par still failed. This time, the ball tripped over the left rim of the hole and flew out, about 1.2 meters away. At that distance, Goydos could not finish his work. After the fourth putt, the ball, though deviated, still stopped near the hole for him to tap lightly to finish the hole.

At that time, Vijay Singh happened to benefit from the opponent's "crash tunnel". Trriple bogey the penultimate hole dragged Goydos down to -12, and Singh who finished -14 suddenly went to the top while second-placed Jeff Maggert also finished the round, at -13. According to this situation, only Goydos has the ability to drag Singh into the extra hole if he scores an eagle on the par4 18 hole. However, Goydos only keeps par. With this ending, Singh won the cup with a bonus of 330,000 USD, Maggert was the runner-up and Goydos was in T3.

Thanks to that, Singh ended five years of thirst for titles on the PGA Tour Champions. Before the Ally Challenge 2023, Singh was crowned four times in the US professional championship arena on the PGA Tour, including the last time at the Charles Schwab Cup Championship in November 2018.

Singh, a Fijian, is 60 years old. During his time on the PGA Tour first place, Singh held the world number one position for 32 weeks, winning 34 cups, including three majors, while Goydos got only two regular outfits.

Most tournaments on the PGA Tour Champions follow a three-round stroke play format, only for professionals aged 50 and over. This arena is a popular destination for the PGA Tour in the late afternoon, before retiring.
