The Saudi club sent an offer of more than 200 million USD for Mbappe
After a friendly match against La Havre 2-0 on July 21, PSG removed Mbappe's name from the list of going to Japan for a summer tour, and put him on the transfer floor. PSG believe Mbappe has tacitly agreed on personal terms to join Real in the summer of 2024. They feel betrayed because the 24-year-old striker once promised to never leave the club as a free player, so they are determined to sell him this summer.
According to Spanish newspaper Marca, at least five clubs want to sign Mbappe, including Tottenham, Man Utd, Chelsea, Al Hilal and Real. In particular, Al Hilal - one of four Saudi Pro League clubs owned by the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) - proposed a two-year contract with a season salary of $ 222 million to Mbappe. This contract has a release clause after the first year on the condition that the next team Mbappe joins must be Real.
Al Hilal is also willing to pay $222 million in transfer fees to PSG. Mbappe's highest valuation is currently only about 200 million USD according to Transfermarkt - the world's most prestigious player transfer and valuation site. Meanwhile, the Football Research Organization (CIES) values the 2018 World Cup champion at $ 180 million, because Mbappe has only one year left on his contract with PSG. This estimate will increase to nearly 300 million USD if the contract of the French striker has a term of three years or more.
According to RMC Sport, PSG will accept Al Hilal's offer if Mbappe does not sign a new contract by July 31 at the latest.
After being removed from the summer tour list, Mbappe is said to have a response when he says he is ready to sit on the bench and not play for PSG for the whole 2023-2024 season, until the contract expires in June 2024. This source emphasized that France's participation in Euro 2024 did not change the mind of the 24-year-old striker.
According to Le Parisien, president Nasser Al Khelaifi is trying to convince Mbappe to leave this summer. PSG are also "down the water" and can accept offers for much less than the $ 200 million they spent to sign the French striker from Monaco in 2018.
Mbappe's most potential destination is still Real, the club is targeting a high-class striker to replace captain Karim Benzema - who has switched to Al Ittihad. However, the royal team currently has a limited budget, having spent $ 110 million to buy Jude Bellingham from Dortmund and $ 22 million to buy Arda Guler from Fenerbahce.
In the summer of 2017, Mbappe joined PSG on loan from Monaco, before being bought permanently in the summer of 2018 for $ 200 million. The French striker immediately became the mainstay of PSG with 212 goals and 98 assists in 260 matches in all competitions, helping the club win five Ligue 1, three French Cups, two French League Cups and two French Super Cups.
