The statistics of the century when Man Utd lost to Liverpool

Man Utd received the heaviest defeat in Premier League history, along with many disastrous statistics when losing 0-7 to Liverpool in round 26 at Anfield.

In the history of the English Premier League since 1992, Man Utd has many times lost by a five-goal margin such as against Newcastle in 1996, Chelsea in 1999, Man City in 2011 or Liverpool in 2021. They have never lost a six-goal margin in the tournament, but lost 0-7 against Liverpool on the evening of March 5.

In the team's 145-year history with thousands of matches, they have never lost more heavily. Man Utd had lost three times with the same score to Blackburn in 1926, Aston Villa 1930 and Wolverhampton 1931. At that time they were just a small team and often had to be relegated.

Coach Erik ten Hag also had to receive the heaviest defeat of his military career, after 481 matches. He said the Man Utd player was "unprofessional, undisciplined and did not follow the instructions of the coaching staff" in this match.

After 115 years, Liverpool have only had three players score two or more goals in a match against Man Utd. Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo and Darwin Nunez all scored twice, before Roberto Firmino sealed a 7-0 victory for Liverpool in round 26, turning Man Utd into the Top 6 team ever to receive the heaviest defeat. The biggest defeat in the history of Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham in the Premier League is also only six goals apart, with Liverpool being five goals, and Man City have never lost seven goals.

Liverpool also won the biggest match in history against Man Utd, surpassing the old record that existed 128 years ago. However, this is not the biggest difference for them this season, when Jurgen Klopp's teachers and students beat Bournemouth 9-0 on August 27, 2022.

Man Utd also lost more to Liverpool than any other opponent in Premier League history, with 19 defeats. In the recent confrontation year, "Red Devils" conceded up to 21 goals, averaging more than four goals per game.

Particularly at Anfield from the 2017-2018 season, Salah had to receive more yellow cards for taking off his shirt than Man Utd's goals. The Egyptian striker took off his shirt to celebrate the goal twice and received a yellow card, while the away team scored only one goal in this period.
