17 of the 22 Vietnamese players participating in ASIAD 19 have just competed in the 2023 World Cup and there is no Huynh Nhu.

Lank FC did not release Huynh Nhu because ASIAD 19 is outside the FIFA days, while the Portuguese women's football season is near.

In addition to Huynh Nhu, midfielder Tran Thi Thuy Trang has retired from the team, and young striker Vu Thi Hoa Ba has an ankle injury. The remaining three names are defenders Chuong Thi Kieu, Nguyen Thi My Anh and Tran Thi Thuy Nga.

The team's framework remains stable. Some new faces chosen by coach Mai Duc Chung are all born from 2000 onwards such as defenders Nguyen Thi Hoa, Pham Thi Lan Anh, Tran Thi Duyen, Nguyen Thi Tuyet Ngan. Midfielder Truc Huong participated in a major tournament for the first time after participating in the national team many times before.

Compared to ASIAD 18, the team only has strikers Pham Hai Yen, Nguyen Thi Thuy Hang, midfielder Thai Thi Thao, goalkeeper Tran Thi Kim Thanh and Khong Thi Hang. At the Asian Games in Indonesia, Vietnam won 3-2 against Thailand and lost 0-7 to Japan in the group stage. In the quarterfinals, the team lost to Taiwan 3-4 in a penalty shootout.

At ASIAD 19 in China, Vietnam is in Group D, meeting Nepal (September 22), Bangladesh (September 25) and Japan (September 28). All matches take place at the Wenzhou Olympic Sports Center.

ASIAD 19 women's soccer includes 16 teams divided into five groups. Teams play in a round robin, selecting the five first-place teams and three second-place teams with the best records to advance to the quarterfinals. Vietnam can easily win against Nepal and Bangladesh, but will have difficulty playing against Japan, even though the opponent does not have the strongest squad.

If they win second place, Vietnam will meet the top team in Group E in the quarterfinals and most likely will be South Korea. If they win the group, the opponent will be the team winning Group C - possibly North Korea or second place in Group E with the competition between the Philippines and Myanmar.

Tomorrow afternoon, September 19, Vietnam will leave for China, expected to be at the competition venue, Wenzhou city, on the evening of the same day.
