The Vietnamese women's team is rewarded with 1.8 billion dong after the 2023 World Cup
VFF awards 800 million dong after the 0-3 loss to the US, and 500 million dong for each 0-2 loss to Portugal and 0-7 to the Netherlands. This amount will be divided by the team at levels A, B, C, D based on the level of contribution at the tournament of each member as usual.
According to VFF, this award is to recognize the efforts of the whole team in the first World Cup despite losing, failing to score and stopping in the group stage. "Not only do you win the match, you will be rewarded," said VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan. "We have many big goals in the future and hope to still participate in the 2027 Women's World Cup."
According to the regulations of the FIFA World Football Federation, each Vietnamese player will receive a bonus of 30,000 USD (about 700 million VND) when stopping in the group stage. The above amount is expected to be disbursed after the tournament in Australia and New Zealand ends. FIFA does not transfer directly to each player, but sends it through the Federation, due to the different tax payment and procedures for each country.
According to the Law on Emulation and Reward, individuals and collectives who are rewarded according to the State's regulations such as winning medals or breaking records at SEA Games, ASIAD, Olympic... do not have to pay tax. However, FIFA's money is not in the above group, but belongs to the type of irregular income, so it must pay tax according to regulations. VFF will pay tax according to the guidance of the General Department of Taxation of 10% from the bonus of each player.
The above figure is specified in Clause 2, Article 2 of Circular No. 111/2023/TT-BTC dated August 15, 2013 of the Ministry of Finance guiding the implementation of the Law on personal income tax, the Law amending and supplementing some Article of the Personal Income Tax Law. Accordingly, organizations and individuals that pay wages, salaries and other expenses to residents who do not sign labor contracts or sign labor contracts for less than three months have a total income of two million dong or more. /times or more, it must be deducted at the rate of 10% of income before paying to individuals.
In addition to the above bonus, FIFA supports 1.56 million USD (about 35 billion VND) based on the performance of the women's team in the group stage for VFF.
