The Vietnamese women's team lost their first match in Japan
Vietnam used a 5-3-2 formation to face the club playing in the WE League - the highest division of Japanese women's football. Coach Mai Duc Chung lined up a defense consisting of goalkeeper Kim Thanh, midfielders Luong Thi Thu Huong, Le Thi Diem My, Tran Thi Thu, pair of full-backs Tran Thi Thu Thao and Hoang Thi Loan. The upline includes midfielders Bich Thuy, Thu Thao and Tuyet Dung and the attacking duo Vu Thi Hoa and Pham Thi Hai Yen.
Vietnam got off to a good start with preemptive attacks. In the 9th minute, Hoang Thi Loan passed a long pass for Vu Thi Hoa to escape to face goalkeeper Cerezo Osaka, but the shot was incorrect. Two minutes later, the home team opened the scoring after a good combination in the middle. The two teams maintained an even position in the following minutes until the 43rd minute, when Cerezo Osaka counter-attacked to score the second.
In the second half, coach Mai Duc Chung replaced many positions with young players such as Thanh Nha, Ngan Thi Van Su, Hai Linh or Thuy Nga to check. The half had no more notable opportunities and ended with a score of 2-0 in favor of Cerezo Osaka.
Previously, Vietnam played its first friendly match on April 19, winning 4-0 at Biwaco Seikei University of Physical Education and Sports. The scorers are Thanh Nha (double), Tuyet Dung and My Anh.
On April 26, Vietnam played the last friendly match against Osaka University of Sports and Sports. On April 30, the team flew directly to Cambodia to compete at the 32nd SEA Games. Vietnam in Group A met Malaysia, Myanmar and the Philippines respectively on May 3, May 6 and May 9.
