Three Difficult Eagles at the 2022 Open
In golf, the term "outside the hole" refers to putting the ball into the hole from outside the green, while wedge clubs are used for short distance and non-professional scoring. In the penultimate stage of the Open on July 16th, Lori scored two consecutive "out-of-hole" eagles, namely the 9th hole and the 10th hole.
Hole 9 and hole 4, Lowry hit the thick grass and finished the game at the second hitting point 43 yards from the target.
On the 10th hole, which is still the 4th zone, Lowry scored the Eagles again, this time 46 yards from the flag.
The two "outside holes" helped Lowry go from-4 to-9 and become the first Hawk to score in two consecutive holes in a Grand Slam in 25 years.
McIlroy went into the third round after Lowry and came in for 10 shots in a sand table trap near Green. But after that, he also took the eagle. This stage made the radio commentators of the organizing committee lose their voice when applauding.
But after 10 holes in Eagle Cave, Lori is not as good as McIlroy. From the 11th hole to the 17th hole, Lori scored three bogeys. Thanks to birdie on the 18th hole, he only got-7 points and got T13. At the same stage, McIlroy scored a bogey and a birdie to keep scoring from 10 holes to-15. McIlroy and Victor Hovland topped the list with-16 points when they scored Birdie on the 18th hole.
Lowry and McIlroy both won the Open. McIlroy won the Horizontal Bar Cup in 2014, five years ahead of Lowry. This year, McIlroy, with a four-stroke advantage and more experience than Hovland, is on track to win a fifth Grand Slam of his career and end an eight-year hunt for a title. In theory, Lowry had no chance when he was nine shots away from the first place.
The Open this year reached a 150 -period milestone, brought by the organization of Royal & Ancient to the Old Par72 Stadium of the St. Andrews - the place is considered the source of golf.
