Tiger Woods has a tough start to the 2022 Open

Scotland shot 78 in the first round on July 14th, and "Super Tiger" will face many difficulties in competing for the Grand Slam Cup in the 150th match of Old Parr 72 of St Andrews Club.

Woods is currently in T146 with +6 points, while the top of the standings is-8, belonging to Cameron Young-the oldest Grand Slam player in the world. From first to T55 (Even Par), there are 76 runners.

The organizer cuts the type according to the principle of taking TOP or T70. As a result, Woods needs a negative score to win weekend tickets as deep as possible in the second round. "In the next game, I have to play 66 to get a chance," Woods set his goal after completing the first round.

Woods started from the 4th zone of the 1st hole and immediately encountered double bogey. In that hole, Woods kicked the ball into the groove in the fairway from the previous player's shot, and the second went into Swelcan Creek. The error led Woods to complete the hole after five shots and get a free-kick.

In the next six holes, Woods scored two bogeys, and then two more bogeys, on the 7th hole. At the time, Woods was on +6 laps. It was not until the 9th hole that Woods grabbed the first bird. In the second half, Woods scored two more birdies and three more bogeys, and then sealed the round with 78.

This result contrasts with Woods' painstaking preparation. Last month, he withdrew from the U.S. Open to resume the Open. The former world number one came to St. Louis Andrews since July 9, and has conducted more than three rounds of tactical survey (58 pits in total) at the old stadium.

The 46-year-old "super tiger" is also on the decline after surviving a traffic accident in February 2021. It took him 14 months to re-enter the competition, finishing 47th overall at the American Masters in April this year. In May, he took part in the American Professional Football Grand Championship and dropped out for health reasons after the third round.

In the opening match of the 2015 Open, Woods' second shot was stuck by Swalwell Kan and scored bogey in one hole. Ten years ago, this place recorded him winning-14 titles, five strokes behind runner-up Colin Montgomery, thus winning the 10th title in the current 15 Grand Slams.

After this round of competition, Woods said: "I had several chances to improve my points, but I didn't succeed. Green is not as fast as I judged, so many shots lack strength. Especially the first two games were technically good, but the external environment made the ball score bad." The external factors Woods is talking about are the wind and grooves on the No.1 hole of fairway.
