The US "Super Tiger" withdrew due to injury before the time to continue the third round of the Master, according to an announcement at more than 6 pm on April 9 from the Organizing Committee - Augusta National par72 in Georgia.

On Twitter, Woods explained he quit before finishing the award "because of recurrence of plantar fasciitis". The former world number one golfer discovered this disease at the end of 2022 and had to quit the Hero World Challenge, which he chaired in conjunction with charity fundraising in the Bahamas. According to Hanoi time, Woods is expected to continue to play the third round of the Masters, at the 17th hole in the middle of the night, April 9 and then enter the final round, and the tournament will close the curtain tomorrow morning.

In the penultimate starting distribution, Woods went from the 10th hole. But the American legend had to rest after seven holes with a score of +9, when the continuous rain caused the field to lose its standard. By then, Woods was limping, wincing in pain. A "pause" with Woods and 53 passing players happened in round 2 for the same reason, and three more pine trees fell at the same time between the 16th green and the 17th tee.

On the night of April 8, also according to Hanoi time, "Super Tiger" escaped at the +3 cut-off point, thus setting a record of 23 consecutive hits of all four major rounds on Augusta National par 72.

Woods accidentally hit this milestone thanks to his close friend Justin Thomas bogey on the 17th hole. That result pushed the cut line to +3, and Woods +2.

In fact, Woods has been complaining of pain since the opening day of April 6. "I was in pain all the time," he described when asked after the opening match of the 87th Masters. At 47 and a history of injuries, walking on steep pitches like Augusta National was challenging for Woods. His legs were very weak after a near-fatal traffic accident in February 2021.

"I still hit a lot of styles, but the hardest thing right now is walking," added the five-time Masters champion.

With his condition completely down and limited in tournaments, Woods in 2022 only targets the majors. In last year's prestigious quartet, he finished 47th at the Masters when he chose this event to rematch after 14 months of convalescence, dropped out of the US Open, withdrew after three rounds of the PGA Championship, was eliminated at The Open.
