Tottenham pushed Man Utd out of the top 4
Tottenham welcome the return of captain Hugo Lloris during the trip to Goodison Park. This is their first match after parting with Antonio Conte. Interim coach Cristian Stellini, who was in charge in February, when Conte was absent due to surgery, did not seem confused with his new role when he launched a 3-4-3 formation with the familiar attacking trio Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski.
The two teams entered the game with the intention of attacking and soon created a tit-for-tat phase. Demarai Gray cut his heart off goal before Pedro Porro made Jordan Pickford struggle to block the cross. In a counterattack, Kane turned to finish Pickford's feet, but Keane was able to rescue before the goal line.
The advantage of possession time was turned into opportunities by Tottenham. Kane missed another opportunity, when the header was not missed by the post. Had it not been for Dwight McNeil's save, Porro would have put the visitors ahead. Late in the first half, it was Son's turn to miss a delicious opportunity when his face-to-face cross was blocked by Pickford with his foot.
The game only turned dramatic in the second half, with two goals and two red cards split equally between each team. Everton had a first chance to lose the ball at home, but Idrissa Gueye shot over the bar. 58 minutes, Abdoulaye Doucoure lacked restraint, hit Kane in the face in a scuffle and received a direct red card.
Less than 10 minutes later, the numerical advantage was converted into a goal by Tottenham. Keane knocks Cristian Romero down in the box. On the penalty spot, Kane fooled England teammate Pickford to open the scoring. This is Kane's 21st goal this season, just behind Erling Haaland (28 goals).
