According to coach Thomas Tuchel, Bayern played well but was unlucky when drawing 1-1 with Man City in the quarter-finals on the evening of April 19, thereby being eliminated from the Champions League.

"There's no difference in terms of class. It looks like that when you look at the results, but it's actually a difference of confidence and form," Tuchel said after the draw at the Allianz Arena.

Yesterday, Bayern held the ball 58%, shot 19 times with seven shots on target, compared to Man City's 7 and 2. But "Gray Lobster" only scored one goal thanks to Joshua Kimmich's penalty kick in the 83rd minute. In the first leg at the Etihad Stadium, Bayern also had more possession with 56%, but could not score from 12 shots and failed miserably. 0-3.

Despite being eliminated with a total score of 1-4, Tuchel was still satisfied with the performance of his students. "Bayern can play at this level, but also at a higher level," said the German coach. "I think the whole team is trying their best, and with more confidence and calm we will find consistency."

CEO Oliver Kahn, Sports Director Hasan Salihamidzic agreed with Tuchel, that Bayern played well, especially in the first half, and created many opportunities. They think that if "Gray Lobster" leads in the first 45 minutes because the match scenario is different.

Kimmich also has similar shares. "It's frustrating not being able to take the lead," the German midfielder expressed. "If you watch both games, Bayern are not eliminated because of lack of desire. In 180 minutes, we are probably only not playing well for 20, 30 minutes. We are not playing worse than Man City."

Before Tuchel was appointed, Bayern had won all eight Champions League matches under Julian Nagelsmann, including two rounds of the 1/8 round against PSG and six group stage matches. But in the semi-finals, Tuchel could not help Bayern maintain the winning streak. "We face the best club in Europe and are in very good form. The two teams are equal, but both legs, Bayern have not had any luck," said the German coach.

However, Tuchel was not satisfied with the decisions of referee Clement Turpin. According to the 54-year-old coach, there are two things that are not up to the level of the Champions League quarter-finals: the Allianz Arena and the referee is only "grade E".

According to British newspaper Sportmail, Tuchel was unhappy with Turpin when he showed five yellow cards in the first half, and a direct red card to Upamecano after a challenge on Erling Haaland before the penalty area. The French referee did not watch the assistant raise the flag for offside, and had to withdraw the red card. Turpin also delayed the game due to faulty headsets. At the end of the game, he drew two consecutive yellow cards and sent off Tuchel's direction.

A few weeks after being taken over by Tuchel, Bayern were disillusioned with the treble as they were respectively eliminated from the German Cup, Champions League, and only the Bundesliga to strive for in the rest. "Gray Lobster" is leading with 59 points, two points more than Dortmund and will meet Mainz on April 22.
