U20 Vietnam forged tactics to confront Australia
According to Mr. Tuan, this training session is "very important" because it is the last chance to re-forge tactical pieces. On February 28, the team will only get used to the field and practice lightly to prepare for the Australian match on March 1.
The training session of U20 Vietnam lasted 1.5 hours. Coach Hoang Anh Tuan divided the team into two with the main team on one side. He meticulously edited each phase of the ball, from the movement, the coordinated passes to the free kicks for the players.
The training conditions of U20 Vietnam are not good when the pitch is bad, there are many protrusions. Coach Hoang Anh Tuan must therefore instruct his students to pay close attention in the moves and disputes, to avoid injury, leading to losses when the opening day of the tournament is approaching. He also asked the students to wear warm clothes because the weather was cold, only about 8 degrees Celsius.
The AFC U-20 Championship will take place in Uzbekistan from March 1 to March 18. U20 Vietnam is in Group B, will play Australia on March 1, Qatar on March 4 and Iran on March 7 respectively.
The 4 semi-finals of the U20 Asian Cup will win tickets to the 2023 FIFA World Cup U20 at the start in May in Indonesia. As the host, Indonesia has a direct entry into the U20 FIFA World Cup, so if this team enters the top 4 at the Asian U20, the losing teams in the quarterfinals will play against each other to compete for replacement tickets.
Before leading Vietnam U20 to attend this Asian tournament, coach Hoang Anh Tuan once brought U19 Vietnam through the group stage of U19 Asia 2016 despite encountering many strong opponents such as North Korea, Iraq and the UAE. After that, Mr. Tuan's teachers and students continued to cause a stir when they defeated the host Bahrain to enter the semi-finals and win tickets to the U20 FIFA World Cup in 2017.
To prepare for the Asian U20 tournament, U20 Vietnam gathered from the end of January. The team then went to training in Saudi Arabia and the UAE, played two friendly matches, won 2-1 Saudi Arabia and lost 0-1 to Dubai City. On February 25, coach Hoang Anh Tuan closed the list of 23 players participating in the tournament and moved to Uzbekistan on February 26.
