U22 Vietnam won the first place team
The match is a personnel test, so the two teams do not limit the number of players that can be substituted. In addition, the training board of U22 Vietnam and Phu Tho agreed to divide the match into three halves with each half lasting 30 minutes. Coach Philippe Troussier was therefore able to use a different formation each half.
U22 Vietnam soon opened the scoring in the 6th minute of the first half. SLNA midfielder Tran Manh Quynh headed home after a corner kick. The goal to double the gap came in the 30th minute of the second half, belonging to another midfielder, Pham Van Huu of Da Nang. Host Phu Tho shortened the score to 1-2 in the middle of the third half, and this is also the result of the match.
The new coach Troussier did not focus on the results in the first match of U22 Vietnam under him. Before that, the team broke the plan to practice with the seniors of the Vietnamese team. The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) contacted a number of V-League clubs for Troussier's teachers and students to have friendly matches, but it also failed because the teams were full of practice schedules.
After the match at Viet Tri today, U22 Vietnam will return to Hanoi, practice for three more days at the VFF Youth Football Training Center and then go to Qatar on Saturday 18/3. The team participated in the Doha Cup 2023 friendly tournament for the U22s, meeting Iraq and the UAE on March 22 and March 25, respectively. The third opponent will be determined based on the ranking after two rounds, playing on March 28.
