Van Toan created a goal for Seoul E-Land

South Korea's striker Nguyen Van Toan created the opening goal, helping Seoul E-Land beat Incheon United 2-1 in a friendly match on February 17.

Van Toan took the main kick and passed the ball to striker Ronan David to open the scoring in the 13th minute. Incheon equalized in the 18th minute, but Ronan David again shone with a 2-1 winning goal in the 66th minute, led by midfielder Lee Jae- ik construct.

Incheon United is the former team of Luong Xuan Truong and Nguyen Cong Phuong, and they finished fourth in the K-League last season to qualify for the AFC Champions League 2023-2024 play-off round. Incheon played two friendlies on the same day, two hours apart. After losing to Seoul E-Land, they won Gyeongnam FC 2-1.

Seoul E-Land and Incheon are both training in Changwon, preparing for the new season. This is the first time Van Toan has created a goal for the Korean club against an opponent from the K-League 1. The 27-year-old striker wore the number 9 shirt in Seoul, when the K-League 2 kicked off on March 1.

This is not the first time a Vietnamese player has created a goal in Korea, when Cong Phuong did the same thing, even scored, in the friendly match of Incheon 2019. However, in the K-League, Cong Phuong Neither Xuan Truong has scored or assisted.

Van Toan played 177 matches in the V-League period 2015-2022, scoring 46 goals. He moved to Seoul E-Land as a free agent in early 2023, after his contract with HAGL expired. He is one of five Southeast Asian players who will play in the 2023 K-League, both in the second division.

K-League 2 2023 consists of 13 teams, kicking in a circle three times, ie each team plays 36 matches, from 1/3 to 2/12. The top team will play in K-League 1. The remaining four teams in the Top 5 will choose two teams to compete for tickets with the last two teams in K-League 1. Seoul E-Land has played nine seasons in the K-League 1. K-League 2 but never promoted.

Van Toan is one of the five foreign players of Seoul E-Land this season, along with Ronan David, Renan, Bruno Oliveira and Tsubasa Nishi. They will play the first match of the new season against Chungbuk Cheongju on March 1.
