Uzbekistan midfielder Nguyen Van Truong contributed greatly to two goals to help Vietnam U20 defeat Qatar 2-1 last night 4/3.

In the second half of the first half, from the fierce dispute of teammate Nguyen Duc Viet in the middle of the field, the ball came close to Van Truong, and the midfielder No. 8 immediately passed it up. Quoc Viet accelerated, turned the ball, eliminated a Qatar defender and then finished his right foot, scoring the opening goal. In the 90th minute, Van Truong personally scored when he received a free kick from Duc Phu from the left and then headed back to beat the Qatar goalkeeper, setting the result 2-1.

In the opening match against Australia 1-0 on March 1, Quoc Viet also scored from a quick settlement on the left wing.

"Vietnam have many combinations to score goals. As everyone has seen, we have both scored in the past two matches," Van Truong said after the victory over Qatar.

The central midfielder on the staff of Hanoi FC admitted that he was not surprised in the situation of scoring the goal. "I saw my teammates hanging the ball into the penalty area, then I ran to catch the ball and hit my head," Van Truong said.

According to the player born in 2003, the referee Akhrol Risqullaev was a ripple in yesterday's match, when blowing many situations in favor of Qatar. The culmination was a penalty in the 83rd minute, leading to a 1-1 equalizer by the Gulf representative. Duc Anh was accused of committing a post-push foul on Ahmed Al Rawi, although the slow-motion showed a very slight impact.

However, thanks to Van Truong's goal, Vietnam still won all 3 points, to win all two matches of Group B. If they win at least one more point against Iran in the last round, the team will enter the quarterfinals. But Van Truong wanted more than that. "My only goal is to win tickets to the U20 World Cup in Indonesia," he asserted.

Meanwhile, captain Khuat Van Khang thanked all teammates. "Today, the whole team kicked very well," Khang shared. "I am grateful to my teammates who fought to the end, and this victory is a team effort."

On March 7, Vietnam will play Iran at Istiqlol Stadium at 17h00, Vietnam time. At the same time, Qatar will face Australia - the team has just won a surprise 3-2 victory over Iran.
