Video: NBA players are disqualified by the referee for difficult reasons
Yesterday (January 11), the match between the Miami Heat and the Oklahoma City Thunder ended with a choking scenario. The Heat, with a six-pillar absence, beat the Thunder by 1 point thanks to a record performance on the free-throw line, achieving a 100% success rate in all 40 throws (40-40 FT).
Jimmy Butler also went down in history as the player with the second most successful free kicks ever with a 100% rate, reaching 23-23 FT all game. However, this competition has another notable detail that is the disqualification of a Miami Heat player - striker Dewayne Dedmon.
As mentioned above, Heat has already played with the B squad due to the lack of 6 pillars. They only used exactly 8 of the last 9 names of the player list and one of them was Dedmon. But instead of taking advantage of this opportunity to present himself and score points in the eyes of the coach, Dewayne left a bad image.
At the beginning of the second half, he was substituted quite early. Seemingly dissatisfied with the coach's decision to substitute, the 33-year-old striker reacted, loudly and blew away the massage machine of a sitting medical staff.
This action caused the unfortunate machine to fly into the middle of the field even though the match was still going on. The referees immediately halted the match and sent Dewayne Dedmon off for unsportsmanlike behaviour.
In more than 4 minutes on the field, Dedmon had only 2 points and 3 rebounds. In addition to losing points in the eyes of the coach, the 33-year-old bigman is likely to be subject to an NBA penalty for his behavior.
While the game is still in progress, any object flying into the field can endanger the players as well as the referee. Therefore, this behavior was called "unacceptable" by Miami Heat coach Erik Spoelstra.
“I know each team has different big personalities, especially in the NBA. But that action is unacceptable,” said the Miami Heat captain.
“We are very sorry that it happened in front of the fans. The team will review the situation and take an internal disciplinary decision if necessary."
This season, Dewayne Dedmon has made 29 appearances for the Miami Heat since the start of the season, averaging 5.9 points and 3.7 rebounds. This number is not too bad for a backup bigman. However, Dedmon most likely lost his chance to play more in the future.De
