The Philippines for the semi -finals of the Southeast Asia Championship today is the confrontation between the two teams that won the World Cup 2023.

Vietnam has won the Philippines in the past in the past, but that statistics do not have much meaning when the host is increasingly improving thanks to the policy of using hybrid players. Striker Sarina Bolden is an example, and she is leading the list of Philippines scoring at the tournament.

Bolden is 1.73 m high, superior to the common ground in Southeast Asia, and was trained with U23 USA. She herself has decided to help the Philippines to defeat Taiwan to win the World Cup for the first time.

Vietnam will also attend the 2023 World Cup for the first time, with a team of players playing in the country. Coach Mai Duc Chung has kept the player's frame playing together for nearly 10 years, such as Nguyen Thi Tuyet Dung, Chuong Thi Kieu, Tran Thi Thuy Trang, Pham Hai Yen or Huynh Nhu.

More recently, he has also added promising young elements such as Luong Thi Thu Thuong, Nguyen Thi Thanh Nha or Ngan Thi Van Su. They gradually get more opportunities in the team and prepare for the 2023 World Cup.

The Philippines has as many as 13 players playing abroad, mainly in countries with developed women's football such as the United States, Japan, Sweden or Norway. In the group stage, they won all the first four games, but lost to Thailand 0-1 in the last round and fell to the second place in the group.

It also helped Vietnam become the only team to win the game so far. Huynh Nhu and his team-mates have scored 18 goals and have not conceded. Other teams conceded at least two or more goals.

The teams' recent clash favoured Vietnam, winning 2-1 at the 31st Southeast Asian Games on May 11. But it is becoming more and more difficult for Mad's army to meet this opponent. "Vietnam are at a disadvantage in bodybuilding and have to play away from home, but that doesn't affect the players," Van Sue said before the game.

The Philippines expects more than 3,000 spectators to attend the semi-finals, an impressive number for a Southeast Asian women's football match. Rarely do Mai Duc Chung's teachers and students have to play under pressure from rival fans so much. But the team will still be focused on advancing to the final, with the goal of equaling Thailand's record of four championships.
