New Zealand Coach Mai Duc Chung's team will play a friendly match with New Zealand before the opening of the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup.

The match takes place on July 10 at McLean Park, Napier. This is New Zealand's last friendly match before they play their opening match against Norway on July 20. "The friendly match with Vietnam is very important," said New Zealand coach Jitka Klimkova. "We want to attend the World Cup in the best shape. Confronting Vietnam right before the tournament provides an opportunity to compare opponents during the construction phase for this campaign."

New Zealand is the co-host of the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup with Australia. They are in Group A with Norway, Switzerland and the Philippines. New Zealand is ranked 25th in the world, below Norway (12), Switzerland (20) and above the Philippines (49).

Vietnamese women are currently in Nepal competing in the first qualifying round of the 2024 Olympic Games. In the first leg, Mr. Mai Duc Chung's teachers and students won 5-1. The return leg will take place tomorrow, April 8. After returning home to rest, the team will go to Japan to train for two weeks and then attend the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia.

After the SEA Games, the team will go to Germany to train for three weeks and have a friendly match with the German women's team and a German women's football club. The team arrived in New Zealand on July 6 to prepare for a friendly with the host. "Playing against New Zealand is a good opportunity for me to check the preparations for the tournament," coach Mai Duc Chung said. "However, that time is also close to the World Cup, so we need to have a calculation to preserve our forces and limit injuries. New Zealand is one of the two hosts, so we really appreciate this match." .

Vietnam still has a friendly match with Spain, before entering the World Cup against the US on July 22, Portugal (July 27) and the Netherlands (August 1).
