Uzbekistan Nguyen Quoc Viet learned the style from the rising star of Japanese football Kaoru Mitoma, when he scored the opening goal in the victory over Qatar in the Asian U20 Championship.

Mitoma is a shining winger in the Brighton & Hove Albion shirt in the English Premier League thanks to his speed, dribbling ability and the way he dribbles the ball from the edge to the center and twists the opponent's flank. He is also a prominent factor in the Japanese national team shirt at the 2022 World Cup.

"I learned Mitoma when I handled that phase," Quoc Viet said on the sidelines of the training session on March 5 when asked about the opening goal against Qatar. "I decided to take the ball inside, because I knew the opponent running back would be twisted."

After passing Mohammed Younis, Quoc Viet shot into the near corner to deceive goalkeeper Amir Hassan. The goal helped the striker born in 2003 receive many compliments. The home page of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) commented: "Quoc Viet shows how effective and dangerous it is in the left corridor".

In the opening match against Australia, Quoc Viet had a similar treatment on the left wing before hitting the ground from afar, scoring the only goal to help Vietnam win 1-0. The mature striker from Nutifood Academy, now with HAGL, said that he always aims to score in every match to help the home team win the best results.

Before making his mark in Uzbekistan, Quoc Viet was considered a phenomenon of Vietnamese youth football. Up to now, the 20-year-old striker has won six national top scorers titles at the U17 (once), U19 (three times), U21 (one) and one time in the Southeast Asian U19 tournament. He is therefore also known as the "King of Young Prizes" of Vietnam.

Before Quoc Viet, only one Vietnamese player ever scored twice in a final round of the Asian U19/U20 tournament, Hoang Thanh Tung in 2014.

Also in the Qatar match, midfielder Nguyen Van Truong's goal made many fans think of Le Cong Vinh's goal against Thailand in the second leg of the 2008 AFF Cup final, thereby helping Vietnam win the championship for the first time. Southeast Asian enemy.

With six absolute points, Vietnam is holding the right to self-determination in winning tickets to the quarterfinals in Group B. Teachers and coach Hoang Anh Tuan just need not lose to Iran in the last match on March 7 to achieve the set goal. .
