Phu Tho's 3-0 victory over Lebanon at Viet Tri Stadium on the evening of June 5 helped Vietnam win tickets to the 2024 Asian Women's U20 final round.

16-year-old player Ngoc Minh Chuyen scored a brace, and captain Le Thi Bao Tram scored the remaining goal to make a big victory for Vietnam. With a 3-2 victory over Iran in the opening leg, the team has six points to take the second place in Group A, the second qualifying round of the Asian U20 Women's 2024. Vietnam is currently equal to Australia, but is behind, due to the poor goal difference (+) 8 vs +4).

This result helps Vietnam and Australia win tickets to the final round one match early. On the evening of June 7, the two teams faced off to determine the first and second place in the group.

Previously, Vietnam passed the first qualifying round also held in Phu Tho in March 2023. The team respectively won Indonesia 3-0, Singapore 11-0 and drew India 1-1 to enter the second qualifying round.

In addition to Australia and Vietnam, the 2024 Asian Women's U20 Finals has identified four teams including the host Uzbekistan, the defending champion Japan, the runner-up North Korea and the third place team against South Korea. The remaining two teams will be determined after Group B of the second qualifying round starts with hosts Myanmar, China, Nepal and Taiwan.

Including 2024, Vietnam has six times to the final round in 2004, 2009, 2011, 2017 and 2019. The best achievement is in the quarterfinals in 2004 in China.

Since the first time in 2002, the tournament has been held 10 times. Japan won the most championship with six times in 2002, 2009, 2011, 2015, 2017, 2019. Following are South Korea - 2004, 2013, China - 2006 and North Korea - 2007.

The 2024 Asian Women's U20 Finals will be held from March 3 to 16, 2024 in Uzbekistan, with eight teams divided into two groups. The champion, runner-up and third-place team will qualify for the FIFA U20 Women's World Cup 2024.
