Vietnamese women took almost a day to get to Nepal
Because there was no direct flight, last night 2/4 the team had to fly from Noi Bai (Hanoi) to Indira Gandhi (India). Here, the team waited 12 hours to be connected to the capital Kathmandu (Nepal) and was present on the afternoon of April 3. "Despite the long flight and waiting, we were given favorable conditions, rented a hotel room to sleep at the airport, so no one was tired," a player said.
Striker Huynh Nhu will fly from Portugal to the army, before attending two matches with the host Nepal at 19:15 on April 5 and April 8 (Hanoi time).
Before the day of departure, coach Mai Duc Chung eliminated 10 players, bringing 22 people with him. The group of 10 players, including Chuong Thi Kieu (who has not recovered from injury) and the addition of four other players are still exercising at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center with coach Cedric Roger. After participating in the qualifying round, the women's team returned to Hanoi to continue preparing for the 32nd SEA Games.
The first qualifying round of the 2024 Olympic women's football in Asia has 22 teams, divided into seven groups. The top seven teams and five teams from North Korea, Japan, Australia, China and South Korea played in the second qualifying round.
These 12 teams are divided into three groups to choose the top three teams and a second best team to compete in the third qualifying round. In the third qualifying round, two pairs of matches will be played in a home-away format and select two winners for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
