Vietnamese women's 3x3 basketball won the Southeast Asian championship

Philippines Twin sisters Truong Thao My and Truong Thao Vy contributed greatly to helping the Vietnamese women's basketball team win the Asia Tour 3x3.

Thao Vy scored 12 points and her twin sister Thao My scored seven points, thereby helping Vietnam defeat Thai Sniper 21-16 in the final evening of April 23. The championship brought the team 5,000 USD in prize money (about 120 million VND).

The Truong sisters made a great influence when helping Vietnam to take the first place in the group stage, in turn defeating Harimau Malaysia 16-14 in extra time, winning Uratex Tibay Philippines 16-11, Uratex Dream Philippines 19-17. In the semi-finals, the team continued to beat Harimau B Malaysia 21-14 before defeating Sniper Thailand.

Asia Tour 3x3 consists of Southeast Asian teams competing in the capital Manila, Philippines. This is an important exercise to help the Vietnamese women's 3x3 basketball team including Thao My, Thao Vy, Huynh Thi Ngoan and Tieu Duy, towards SEA Games 32. The team's goal is to improve its achievement of winning a silver medal at the SEA Games. 31 at home.

Truong Thao My and Truong Thao Vy were born in 2001, with Vietnamese parents living and working in the US. Both have played basketball since the age of 5, the manager is in the position of PG (ball defender), SG (score defender) and thanks to their talent, excellently won a scholarship to Gonzaga University. "Truong Twins" contributed to helping Gonzaga women's basketball win the Western region championship for two consecutive seasons 2020-2021 and 2021-2022. After that, both had the opportunity to play at the NCAA - the number one tournament system for American students, which is considered a stepping stone to the professional playing field.

In April 2022, My and Vy played for the first time for the Vietnamese basketball team and won the 3x3 ABL International Champion Cup in Indonesia. A month later, the pair helped Vietnam win the first medal at the SEA Games women's basketball content, with a silver 3x3 medal.

Also at the Asia Tour 3x3, the Vietnamese men's team with Justin Young, Tran Dang Khoa, Nguyen Huynh Phuc Vinh and Vo Kim Ban finished fourth, after losing to Performance Lab Philippines 17-21 in the semifinals. Previously, the team defeated Singapore Lion 19-12 and Zamboanga Valientes Philippines 21-15 in the group stage.
