Vlahovic threatened to cut off his hand if he went to PSG
On July 16, this group of fans gathered in front of the Parc des Princes and held up a banner reading "Vlahovic, if you go to PSG, we will cut off three of your fingers".
According to Spanish newspaper Marca, this message was in response to Vlahovic raising three fingers while wearing a shirt with a map of Kosovo in the territory of Serbia and taking a souvenir photo after the match with the team. His move is said to refer to "Serbian supremacy over Kosovo" and could also be "a sign of Serbia's victory".
Kosovo is a disputed and internationally recognized territory in Southeast Europe, which declared independence from Serbia in 2008 as the Republic of Kosovo. France is one of the countries that recognize Kosovo as an independent state.
PSG's ultras fan group has repeatedly publicly criticized the club's transfer work. They insisted Lucas Hernandez was not welcome at the Parc des Princes, before the French defender moved from Bayern to PSG for $ 45 million.
The reason is that Hernandez has close links with PSG's rival Marseille - where his father, Jean-Francois, played from 1995-1997. They also have a grudge because Hernandez was part of Bayern's 1-0 win over PSG in the 2020 Champions League final.
PSG's ultras fan group also sent a letter to the leadership, expressing concern about Qatar's owner - Qatari Sports Investments group, and questioned the big deals that PSG made in the summer of 2021 - including Gianluigi Donnarumma, Sergio Ramos, Achraf Hakimi, Georginio Wijnaldum and especially Lionel Messi.
PSG target Vlahovic to strengthen the attack in the context that Lionel Messi has left, and Kylian Mbappe's future is unclear. According to Foot Mercato, the 23-year-old striker has reached a personal agreement with PSG on a 5-year contract with a season salary of $ 12 million. But the two clubs still need to agree on the transfer fee. Juventus wants to earn $90 million, while PSG only wants to pay $65 million.
According to British newspaper Sportmail, Chelsea is another potential destination for Vlahovic. Juventus is ready to sell the Serbian striker for less than $ 30 million, on the condition that "The Blues" let Romelu Lukaku go to Turin in the opposite direction.
In January 2022, Vlahovic joined Juventus from Fiorentina for a total fee of $ 85 million. He did not meet expectations when he scored only 23 goals and six assists in 63 matches in all competitions, and even lost his starting position at the end of the 2022-2023 season. Before that, Vlahovic made a strong impression in the shirt of Fiorentina, scoring 33 goals in 2021, equal to the record of scoring in one year of Italian football that Cristiano Ronaldo set in 2020.
