Why are Betis players allowed to score even if the ball touches their hands?

Juanmi was allowed to ignore the error of letting the ball touch his hand because it was not intentional, before passing it to Ayoze Perez to hit Man Utd on the evening of March 9.

Betis' 1-1 equalizer came from a long pass from the old general Joaquin in the 32nd minute. Striker Juanmi used his chest to control but let the ball roll down his arm. The Spaniard then added another beat, then passed it to Perez in the right corner. In a relaxed position, the player loaned to Betis by Leicester shot across the corner to beat David De Gea.

Under UEFA rules, unintentional handball leading to a goal or scoring opportunity is not considered a handball foul. Handball is penalized if the ball touches the attacker during the launch phase just before scoring. In Betis' goal, Juanmi went one more beat and then passed the ball. Perez then controlled with his chest and then swung his foot.

Both referee Daniel Siebert and VAR referee Marco Fritz made no move to interfere with this ball, although center back Raphael Varane signaled Juanmi to make a mistake to let the ball touch.

Many Man Utd fans are angry with the visitors' table. They cite another similar situation that is detrimental to the Old Trafford team, also in the Europa League this season. In the group stage match against Sociedad, midfielder Lisandro Martinez blocked the ball with his foot, then the ball hit his hand and Man Utd received a penalty because the situation took place in the penalty area.

"There is an inconsistency here. Playing the ball with the hand leads to the table, but not "directly" leading to the table is not penalized?", account @thatduncan commented on Twitter about Perez's table.

Equalized at the end of the first half, but Man Utd played explosively in the second half. They completely dominated, finished superiorly and scored three more goals to win the final 4-1. Winning the gap helped teachers and coaches Erik Ten Hag put one foot in the quarterfinals of the Europa League. The two teams rematch on March 17 at Betis' Benito Villamarin stadium.
