In the 2024 European Cup of Nations, a total of 24 teams will participate in the regular competition, divided into six groups. The top two of each group and the top three of the four teams will enter the knockout stage. Team 53 is divided into 10 groups, 7 groups and 5 teams, and 3 groups and 6 teams. The first and second places in the group were directly promoted, and the remaining three places were determined through the playoffs, while the host Germany directly entered the finals. The top two of each group directly advanced to the finals. The group matches are ranked according to the number of points. If two or more teams have the same points, they will be ranked according to the following rules in turn: a. The points between each other's matches; B. The number of goal difference between competitions; C. The number of goals between competitions; D. The number of away goals in each other's matches; E. If there are still teams that haven't been ranked after applying the a-d rule, then apply the a-d rule to compare the teams that haven't been ranked. If such a cycle can't be confirmed, the ranking will be determined according to the f-j rule; F. Goal difference in group match; G. Number of goals in group games; H. The number of away goals in the group match; I. Fair competition score; J. UEFA ranking. The third place with the best results of the 10 groups directly advanced to the finals of the European Championships. When comparing the third place of the best result, the eight teams in the A-H group need to exclude their performance against the sixth place of the group, and then compare with the team in the I group. The ranking shall be determined in accordance with the following rules in turn: a. group competition points; B. The goal difference in the group match; C. Number of goals in group games; D. The number of away goals in the group match; E. Fair competition score; F. UEFA ranking. The third place of the remaining eight groups entered the play-off stage. After drawing lots, the eight teams were divided into two or four pairs for a two-round play-off at home and away. In the play-off of the two rounds, the team with more goals will be promoted. If the result of the two teams is equal, the team with more goals in the away game will be promoted. If the result is still the same, the team will enter into the overtime of 15 minutes in the first and second half respectively. If the two teams do not score in the overtime, the team will have a penalty shoot-out to determine the winner. The final round of the European Cup will start with a group match. 24 teams will be divided into 6 groups, with 4 teams in each group. The top two of each group, as well as the top three of the four groups with the best results, entered the top 16. Then enter the knockout stage. From the last eight to the final, the game will take the form of a final. If the game is tied within 90 minutes, it will be decided by overtime. There is no gold goal or silver goal system in overtime. The two teams must complete the game of 15 minutes in the first and second half of overtime. The team with more goals in overtime will win. If the game is tied after overtime, it will be won by shooting each other for 12 yards.
